Transfer Information
If you intend to transfer your credits to a four-year college or university to obtain a bachelor’s degree, begin your transfer planning in your first semester at ACC to stay on track. Articulation Agreements
ACC has developed transfer agreements, called articulation agreements, with more than 60 colleges and universities. These agreements help ensure the classes you take at ACC will transfer toward your bachelor’s degree program. They outline minimum GPA requirements for admission, maximum number of credit hours that will transfer, and transferable courses for specific degrees or majors. Course Equivalency Guides
Course equivalency guides show a list of equivalent courses that transfer from ACC to various colleges and universities. Some equivalency guides are specific to ACC courses, while others show equivalencies to Texas Common Course Numbers (TCCN). Transfer Credit Limitations
Many ACC courses transfer to other colleges and universities. However, a transferred course may not always apply toward your degree at the transfer college or university. Consult an advisor at the destination college to learn which specific courses will transfer to your intended major.
According to Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board rules, no institution of higher education is required to accept in transfer, or apply toward a degree program, more than 60 semester credit hours of lower-division academic credit. Some colleges or universities may choose to accept additional credit hours.
Transfer Dispute Resolution
ACC works closely with other colleges and universities to provide a smooth transfer experience for ACC students. The college follows the guidelines established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for resolving transfer disputes as prescribed by Coordinating Board Rules and Regulations, Chapter 4, Subchapter B, Section 4.27. An ACC vice president accepts the initial contact from a receiving institution when a student transferring from ACC is denied transfer of course credits.
Reverse Transfer
Reverse transfer is a process where credits you earn at a four-year college or university after transferring from Austin Community College are transferred back to ACC to determine if you are eligible for an associate degree. You can apply to the ACC Admissions and Records Office for reverse transfer, or you can provide a release to your four-year university to send your transcript back to ACC.
